This 1960 two-story home on the rare and sprawling hillside property had undergone consecutive makeovers before we inherited its complete remodel.
The current artist owners sought to clarify the volumes that had been chopped up over time. The resultant Modern, minimalist aesthetic derives from a reduced palette: oak floors, original douglas fir exposed ceiling and structure, and large expanses of glass.
Crisp, clean lines and detailing set off the rugged contour of Mount Tamalpais as it cascades down to sea level. At the horizon the view wraps around ninety degrees to to reveal an ocean panorama.
South facing decks at the living room, kitchen, family room and master bedroom and a dining room loft take full advantage of the magnificent natural setting.
The bold scale and simplicity create the perfect backdrop for a display of contemporary art and lighting.
