Turk Kauffman collaborated with East Bay architect and structural engineer Steven Grover on the design for a terraced house that makes the most of a steep, narrow ridge lot.

The house cascades downhill, hugging the contours of the slope. Multiple platforms pivot off of the vertical circulation; internal stairs link each of the four main levels. 

Two areas of flat roof become outdoor living spaces. One is a stone-paved patio, another a landscaped lawn. An in-law unit over the garage is projected for phase two of construction.
