On a hill overlooking the San Francisco Bay, this modern house had untapped potential for connecting to the out-of-doors. We worked outside as well as in, developing a courtyard and perimeter plantings and converting half the detached garage to a workroom/studio. A new offset concrete entry stair merges seamlessly with the existing brick porch.
The main structure, originally finished in wood and stucco, received new reclaimed horizontal redwood siding, new energy-efficient windows, douglas fir doors, hydronic radiant heating, and new interior finishes. New landscaping has since filled in the front yard and courtyard. Remodeled bathrooms and an updated kitchen completed the project.
